Introducing 'Dear CoCo'
A delightful and knowledgeable woman has manifested herself to us. Her name is CoCo and she is our new, much-needed agony aunt. Please write her with your trials and tribulations, whatever they are. She awaits your challenges."

VOID NEWS SECTION

New News
On December 7th 2001, the board of VOIDING THE VOID had an extremely important board meeting. You all may have noticed a certain untimeliness to recent VOID issues (you may possibly have even noticed their complete absence).
There are many reasons for these problems. War has been a factor. The VOID's New York staff has been over-burdened by the city. The big apple asks a lot of its residents. Also, another issue is that there have been conflicting visions of our vision for the VOID. That is to be expected and welcomed. But it was clear that the VOID had reached a summit of some sort. Looking out onto the horizon, we on the board could see forests and marshes and mountains and far away a dark tower surrounded by desolate earth. Umm, actually that's Lord of the Rings.
At any rate, there were decisions to be made. Things at the VOID could not go on as before. Thus, lubricated by copious cans of Schaefer (very underestimated: America's oldest lager beer. Much better than Coors) the minds of the VOID think tank churned for hours in an attempt to figure out just where the publication is headed. There were tears. There was laughter. There was violence and there were Doritos. But we finally found our new inspiration. We at the VOID decided that VOIDING THE VOID is headed where it has always been headed - into the void. So onward we go. Deeper and deeper into impenetrable abyss. Those of you who wish to continue the journey, your support is now more intrinsic than ever. We may be blinded by darkness but we shall walk on into the shadows, peering at them with fear and trepidation but yet with vigor and bravado. Be brave fellow journeypersons. Let us chronicle our quest!

SUBMISSIONS
Please send your stories, poems, ideas, multimedia works, art or whatever to VOIDING THE VOID. We want to know what you're thinking about and eagerly await your communications. In this new world era (post September) things require some real exploration. We have to understand what we have been and what we will become. You can't do that kind of thing in a half-assed fashion. We realize that the responsibility of facilitating this type of quality thinking has fallen to us here at the VOID. So Come on, don't shirk your civic duty! please, send work to
VOIDING THE VOID,
Attn: E. E. Lippincott,
8 Henderson Place,
New York, New York 10028.

Or, preferably, send it via email to EELIPP@aol.com

REPORTAGE SECTION
Reportage is reporting, and what we want is you reporting on something that happened to you or that you personally observed. Tell us about an incident or experience. Share what transpired during one of your days. Please send us a slice of your lives.
We would like to thank Matthew Sheahan for contributing his "real life Story" to this edition. All the rest of you: SEND REPORTAGE.
Label reportage submissions "reportage" on the outside envelope.

Merry Christmas/ Happy past holidays or whatever.  Peace be with you and to all a good night.  There is no snow in New York as of yet but there will be, I’m sure.  It’s cold and wet.  There are people bundled up in the streets and even between car and office one needs a coat now.  It’s a messy time.

Please continue to send your work because we are ecstatic to receive it.  Keep the faith into the new year.  Perhaps there will be a fiasco or two.  Perhaps not.  We’ll all see.  Together.  As the new year and the new millennium will have dawned, most probably before we see each other again, no matter what may befall us, do keep in touch.

Well Friends, it’s an anniversary!  It’s two years now since one fall I decided to make fun of my morbid thoughts.  I want to thank you all - all of you who’ve cared to read VOIDING THE VOIDTM and all of you who’ve sent your own bits and pieces to share.  Please continue to send your thoughts, fiction, prose, ideas, poems, art, whatever you think makes sense to the VOID.  We would love to hear from you.  Send to:  VOIDING THE VOID, c/o Erin Lippincott, 8 Henderson Place, New York, NY 10028.  Or email: EELIPP@aol.com.

Now, VOIDING THE VOIDTM  is encouraging the submission of  'reportage' pieces.  Reportage is just reporting, but what we want specifically is you reporting on something that happened to you.  It can be as big or small as it really was when you experienced it.  Tell us about an incident that happened to you recently.  Share what happened in one of your days.

All the best everybody.  There’s a definite turn in the air now.

During the past week here in NYC there have been blackouts due to the whole city’s use of portable air conditioners. The Editor would like to welcome all the new submissions to The Void. And to say that whatever happens, we are in this Spring together. Surely the worst thing is seeing those big male pigeons chasing the females around all over the city. But the air is good. The river is nearby here and in the mornings I sometimes go to see the people walking their dogs and the air comes off the water and it has something in it that’s exciting. Spring.
